Business owners in Richmond created great displays in their windows for the annual Easter Window Dressing Competition.
Great imagination had been shown in decorating windows for residents and visitors to enjoy, making judging difficult for Melanie Sadler of the Black Bull Inn, Moulton.
The overall winner was local artist Stacey Moore’s Gallery. The Gallery received an engraved trophy from Melanie, who presented certificates to the best in each of the other three categories. Highly Commended were:
- Best Retail Gift display - York House
- Best Retail Non-Gift – Irvings Sales and Lettings
- Best Non-Retail – Rooftops Nursery
Marcia McLuckie, Chair of the Original Richmond Business and Tourism Association said, “There were many excellent displays. People had put in a lot of effort to make their windows look good for Easter shoppers and visitors. Windows in independent businesses have a unique look, which creates special interest and another reason to shop locally.”
This weekend is Richmond MayFest, with lots going on in the town and most of the window displays are still in place. This gives a double reason to visit Richmond Market place and its surrounding streets to listen to the MayFest music and admire the shop windows.
