Purple Creative Studio has marked its 15th birthday with a staff meal and private film screening at The Station.
Established by Phil Upton and Allan Guy in 2009, Purple Creative is based on the Aske Estate near Richmond. It offers a range of services including web design and development, digital marketing and graphic design, as well as cloud services through partnerships with Google and Microsoft.
The company has supported over 800 clients and launched at least 400 websites since its launch. It currently employs nine people and has supported ten apprentices over the years.
The company has won a number of awards, most recently receiving Best Employer at the Richmond Business Excellence Awards and the 2024 Defence ERS Silver Award.
The company has also introduced numerous initiatives to improve its environmental impact. It plants trees for each website launched, uses biomass heating fuelled by the local sawmill, and chooses suppliers based on their eco credentials, such as Ecotricity and Who Gives a Crap, underpinning their dedication to sustainability.
Managing Director, Phil Upton, is an ORBTA committee member, a trustee of the Richmondshire Buildings Preservation Trust, which owns and operates The Station in Richmond, and a trustee of the Military WAGs Choir at Catterick.
Phil said: “When Purple was started it was simply a means to an end after I had been made redundant and started working for myself. Then my mate, Allan, suffered the same fate and so the two of us buddied up to work on a website project we had won.
“There was an instant spark of recognition for what we could do together and so the partnership was born and Purple Creative Studio was formed. We worked hard to win new business and did our very best to deliver great service and great solutions.
“Here we are 15 years on with our fantastic team delivering solutions across a variety of digital sectors and geographical regions. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved over the years and it is rewarding to see our clients benefitting from our work.”
