Our congratulations go to Marcia McLuckie, former Chair of ORBTA, who has been presented with her British Empire Medal by The Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Johanna Ropner. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of Clare Granger, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire.
Marcia was awarded the honour in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to the environment and to the community in Richmond.
In 2018, Marcia prepared the town’s submission for the Great British High Street Awards which led to Richmond being shortlisted in the champion high street category.
She was a key figure in Richmond’s entry to the 2019 Yorkshire in Bloom Awards where a silver gilt award was achieved and in 2021, Marcia was a leading figure in the town’s 950th anniversary celebrations.
Marcia and husband Dennis run a holiday cottage business in the town.
They are the custodians of Mr. Yorke’s Walled Garden, a garden which they open every year to raise money for local charities.
