Local designers and makers wanted for a new season at The Shop at The Station.
The Shop at The Station, situated inside The Station, Richmond, is seeking local artists, designers and makers to sell their work alongside renowned craftspeople, such as Alastair Brookes, Ruth Charlton and Catherine Boyne-Whitelegg.
Steered by new Retail Manager, Jane Dennis, The Shop's initiative for 2021 is to shine a light on local talent, after what has been a turbulent year for artists and creatives.
Jane says, ‘In these difficult times, many artists have found themselves without work. As an artist myself, I understand the struggles they have faced. The Station is first and foremost a community building and we would like to help by offering a platform to promote and sell local artist’s work at The Shop at The Station.’
The Shop stocks 3D design-led art - from jewellery to greetings cards, sculpted pieces, ceramics, textiles and accessories - almost all of which is bought directly from artists and makers. All profits from The Shop are ploughed back into the upkeep of the The Station, a charitable film, food and art enterprise managed by Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust (richmondshirebpt.co.uk)
Jane continues, ' We are looking for local creatives, demonstrating excellent craftsmanship and individuality in their work. We are particularly interested in glass, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and other hand-crafted three dimensional items.'
Artists are encouraged to send six high-resolution images, with a short artist statement and links to their website/social media to Jane at shop@thestation.co.uk by 15th January 2021.
The Shop is open seven days a week weekends, 11am - 4pm, with late night shopping on 6th January and 3rd February until 7pm. The Station is also home to a 3-screen independent cinema, Café | Bar, bakery, ice cream parlour, chocolaterie, brewery and dance school.
